The scientist behind soft water

Ion exchange softening works through a simple but elegant chemical process. Hard water contains dissolved minerals—primarily calcium and magnesium—that cause scale buildup, spotting, and reduced soap efficiency. ResinTech's premium softening resin is composed of millions of tiny polymer beads, each containing negatively charged exchange sites loaded with sodium ions. As hard water flows through the resin bed, calcium and magnesium are captured and held in place while sodium ions are released. The result is soft water that protects plumbing, extends appliance life, and delivers the spotless dishes and soft laundry your customers expect.

When the resin becomes saturated with hardness minerals, the regeneration cycle reverses the process. A concentrated salt brine solution floods the resin bed, displacing the captured hardness minerals and flushing them to drain. The resin is then rinsed and returned to service, ready to soften thousands more gallons—a proven technology that continues to deliver reliable results your reputation depends on.

The Control System Professionals Trust

The Clack WS1 represents the perfect balance of sophisticated control technology and straightforward mechanical design. Built around a solid-state microprocessor with an easy-access front panel, this system puts complete operational control at your fingertips while maintaining the robust, proven hydraulics that water treatment professionals have relied on for decades.

The intuitive display shows everything you need at a glance: time of day, days until next regeneration, volume remaining, current flow rate, and total volume used. Four programmable regeneration methods—meter immediate, meter delayed, time clock delayed, or pressure differential—give you the flexibility to match the system precisely to your customer's usage patterns and water conditions. The optional double backwash feature delivers optimum regeneration efficiency, ensuring consistently soft water while maximizing salt efficiency and resin life.

Premium Quality Where It Matters Most

ResinTech softening resins set the standard for quality and performance in residential water treatment. Manufactured in the United States using food-grade materials and non-solvent production processes, these resins meet the strictest safety standards for drinking water applications. Every batch is tested and certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 61, ensuring that what goes into your customers' water systems is safe, pure, and free from contaminants that can compromise water quality or system performance.

The difference shows in the details. ResinTech's gel-type strong acid cation resins deliver exceptional exchange capacity and regeneration efficiency across a wide range of water chemistries. Whether you're dealing with Florida's challenging groundwater conditions, high TDS municipal supplies, or variable well water, these resins maintain consistent softening performance. The high physical strength and chemical stability mean the resin bed resists degradation from chlorine exposure, iron fouling, and the mechanical stress of repeated regeneration cycles—extending service life and reducing the total cost of ownership for your customers.

Available in standard 8% crosslink formulations for typical residential applications (10% upgrades are available) and specialized high-capacity versions for demanding conditions, ResinTech gives you the flexibility to match the resin to the application. This isn't just about removing hardness—it's about delivering reliable, long-term performance that protects your reputation and keeps customers satisfied year after year.

Installation and Service Made Simple

The reliable DC motor, seal spacer stack, and hydraulically balanced piston design mean fewer service calls and longer system life. The 12-volt output AC adaptor provides safe, straightforward installation, while the coin cell lithium battery backup with 8-hour carryover ensures your programming stays intact even during power outages. Choose between downflow or upflow brining regeneration to match your specific application requirements, and configure treated/soft water post-fill to ensure customers never experience hard water during the regeneration cycle.

Available in both time clock and metered configurations, the WS1 accommodates tanks up to 21" diameter in eight different system sizes—from compact 24k grain units perfect for condos and smaller homes to robust 64k grain systems for larger households or high-demand applications. Optional bypass valves are available in fiber-reinforced polymer or stainless steel for added convenience and serviceability.

Our standard tank color is black with designer tank jackets available to protect against UV exposure in outdoor installations. If you prefer different colors, they can be specially ordered. Multiple brine tank configurations ensure you can fit the complete system into virtually any installation space while maintaining the professional appearance your customers expect.

Recommended Installation

For optimal performance and customer satisfaction:

  • Pre-filtration recommended if sediment, iron, or manganese are present in source water

  • Post-softener carbon filtration for customers concerned about chlorine taste and odor

  • Bypass valve installation (fiber-reinforced polymer or stainless steel) for system maintenance and service access

  • Proper drain line sizing to accommodate 15 GPM backwash flow

  • Hardness testing of source water to properly size system capacity and set regeneration frequency

Professional tip: Metered systems typically provide better salt efficiency and more consistent soft water delivery compared to time clock models, making them the preferred choice for most residential installations.

WS1 + Carbon Filter
BENEFITS OF A PRE-CARBON FILTER

Using a carbon filter as a pre-filter in a water filtration system provides several key benefits.

  • Removes chlorine, chloramines, and organic contaminants

  • Protects downstream filtration components from chemical damage and fouling.

  • Extends the life and efficiency of more sensitive or specialized filtration media used later in the system

OTHER CONTROL VALVE OPTIONS
